FAQs

Q WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF HEATING AND COOLING?

As the seasons change, it’s important to keep your home at a comfortable temperature. A home that is too hot or too cold can cause problems with allergies, headaches, and other health issues.

Your heating and cooling system also helps to keep your home safe by monitoring the temperature inside your home and adjusting accordingly. If you notice that your HVAC system seems to be working on its own, this means that your system has detected a problem with temperature regulation and is trying to fix it.

Q WHEN SHOULD I HAVE MY HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEM SERVICED?

The best time to have your heating and cooling system serviced is at the beginning of the season before you need it. If you wait until the middle of summer, for example, and your AC starts acting up, it could be too late for your technician to catch any major problems.

That’s why we recommend you schedule an appointment with an HVAC professional once a year. During this appointment, they will check all of your systems for leaks, wear and tear, and other issues that could lead to more serious problems later on. This way, if there are any issues with your system—like an air filter that needs replacing—they can be taken care of before they become bigger problems.

Q HOW OFTEN SHOULD I REPLACE MY HVAC FILTERS?

We recommend replacing your HVAC filters every 3 months. This is especially important in the spring and summer when pollen and other allergens are prevalent.

Q HOW DO I KNOW WHEN IT’S TIME FOR AN AC REPLACEMENT?

It’s time for an AC replacement when the following happens:

1. You notice that the air coming out of your vents feels hot. This is a sign that your air conditioner’s compressor has failed and needs to be replaced. The compressor is the part in your AC system that moves heat from inside your home to outside, so if it stops working, you won’t be able to keep cool.

2. Your home feels warm even though it’s set to a low temperature. If you find yourself cranking up the thermostat and still feeling hot in your house, this could be a sign that something’s wrong with your AC unit—or it could just mean that there are some leaks or gaps around windows or doors.

3. You hear strange noises coming from your AC unit while it’s running. If you hear rattling sounds or squeaks from somewhere in your home when the air conditioner is running, this could indicate that something needs repair or replacement before it becomes a bigger problem down the road (like a leaky pipe).

Q WHY IS MY AC SYSTEM FREEZING UP?

Your air conditioning system might be freezing up because it’s too cold outside.

If you find that your air conditioning system is freezing up, try adjusting the temperature in your home or turning off the AC for a while and allowing it to thaw out. If that doesn’t work, contact a professional.
